Dr. Tina Beveridge is Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education and Director of Undergraduate Music Education at the Dewberry School of Music of George Mason University. While the majority of her teaching experience is in all ages and levels of choral music, she has also taught band at middle and high school level, and elementary general music. Her diverse teaching experience includes jazz, pop, and world music pedagogy, as well as other progressive pedagogies such as general music in the secondary school. At Mason, Dr. Beveridge teaches undergraduate methods classes in choral and general music, music pedagogy, coordinates student internships, as well as teaches graduate seminars. In addition, Dr. Beveridge is the faculty advisor for Mason’s collegiate NAfME chapter.

Her early experiences working in the urban settings of Seattle and Chicago directed her philosophy and research in educational policy issues, which she has published in journals such as Music Educators Journal, Arts Education Policy Review and Update: Applications of Research in Music Education. She has presented research on issues of access and equity in music education at state and national level conference, and currently serves as the chair-elect of the Social Sciences special research interest group (SRIG) for the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME). Dr. Beveridge is also an active clinician, adjudicator, and performer in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Dr. Beveridge holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, a Master of Music degree in Music Education from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree (Music Education) from Seattle Pacific University. She is also an active member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).
