Ensemble Director: Dr. Alan Carr

The ensemble explores all musical styles in a very challenging and creative environment. The conductor tailors music especially for this ever changing ensemble of brass and percussion players, who strive for new levels of musical excellence on their instruments.

The Mason Brass Ensemble is lead by Professor Alan Carr, a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory (BM), The Juilliard School (MM), Yale University (AD), and, the University of Wisconsin-Madison (DMA), where he was a Paul J. Collins Distinguished Fellow.

Randy Campora
Randy Campora, bass trombonist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

In 2022, Randy Campora, bass trombonist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, visited George Mason University to give a masterclass to the brass students. He currently teaches bass trombone at the Peabody Conservatory, and has appeared as a performer and masterclass clinician at the International Trombone Workshop and the Eastern Trombone Workshop. Campora has had private lessons with some of his favorite brass players, including Arnold Jacobs, Charles Vernon, and Joseph Alessi.

The guest artists days are open to current Mason students, faculty and staff.
