Biography

Anh Nguyen is currently a first-year DMA student under Dr. Linda Monson at George Mason University with a Graduate Teaching Assistant position. She started studying the piano at age five, Anh Nguyen has continuously achieved academic success with scholarship, assistantship, and teaching position awards throughout her study path. After receiving double bachelor's degrees in engineering and piano performance from the University of Technology and Conservatory of Music in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Anh Nguyen has followed academic studies with a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and Illinois State University, and Master's in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University. Anh has presented several piano recitals and performances in Vietnam and the United States and offered several research papers at international conferences. Some highlights include "Music of the Khmer-Krom in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam: An Impact of Changes" at the International Conference of the Asia-Pacific Society for Ethnomusicology (APSE) in Thailand, and "Modern accompaniment: The equal subdivision in the Third Improvisation of Bartok's Eight Improvisation, Op. 20," at Global Arts Festival at Ohio University. Numerous of Anh Nguyen's performances have been broadcasted on Ho Chi Minh City Television. Most recently, Anh Nguyen performed as a solo pianist in the Grand Piano Celebration 2021 and is the piano part of the University Orchestra at George Mason University.
