Richard Parrell is an active performer and teacher of jazz and classical music. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA and his Master of Music from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

He is currently principal saxophonist with the U.S. Army Band as well as a member of the Washington Saxophone Quartet. In addition to performing with various jazz groups in the area, Rick also arranges and records jingles for NPR's "All Things Considered".

He currently is Associate conductor of the City of Fairfax Band and director of the Fairfax Swing Band. Mr. Parrell has been an Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at George Mason University since 1982.
