French Horn Enthusiasts of all ages and abilities are invited to attend our free Horn Day! at Mason’s School of Music, Saturday, November 10 from 7:30AM-5:00PM hosted by George Mason University and Capital Horn Club. Featured horn recitalist is Joseph Lovinsky, retired Principal horn of “Pershing’s Own” US Army Band. Both the Kennedy Center Horn Quartet made up of hornists from the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) and Opera House, James Nickel, Robert Rearden, Geoffrey Pilkington, Wei-Ping Chou with guest flutist, Julianna Nickel and the horn ensemble, Capital Horns under the direction of Jeff Bianchi will be performing recitals. Bring your horn and play in the massed Horn Choir under the direction of Brass of Peace director and retired NSO hornist Sylvia Alimena. Other highlights include the masterclass with Joseph Lovinsky and winners of the audition, group warm up with James Nickel, NSO hornist, and an informational panel into different summer camps for hornists. Vendors will be selling music, horn related items and horns! Come join others who share your interest and passion for this beautiful instrument!
