Clarinet Day 2020

The School of Music’s Clarinet Day will take place on Sunday, January 26th, 2020

 from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm in the deLaski Performing Arts Building

Clarinet Day is a free event open to clarinet players ages 13 and up! Join us for a day packed with masterclasses, performances, vendors, and guest artists. This year’s Guest Artist is Principal Clarinet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Yao Guang Zhai.

Schedule for Clarinet Day:

8:30-9:30 Registration/vendor time
9:30-10:30 Festival clarinet choir (open to all attendees)
10:45 – 11:15 Yao Guang Zhai recital
11:30-12:30 Yao Guang Zhai masterclass
12:30 – 1:30 Lunch/vendor time
1:00-1:30 A Detailed Look at Uebel Clarinets – Claire Hammond
1:30 – 2:00 Yoga for the Practice Room – Kathy Mulcahy
                   *Breathing techniques, stretches, and exercises to improve your practice sessions
2:00-2:30 Audition Workshop for High Schoolers  – Ken Lee and Dr. Charles West (DeLaski 3001)
                 Audition Workshop for Middle Schoolers – Catina Sweedy (Choral Room)
                    *What are judges looking for in District Band/All-State/college auditions?
2:30-3:00 Repair clinic – Wes Rice
3:00-3:45 Atlantic Reed Consort recital/Q&A

Parking will be available in the Mason Pond Parking Deck, located right next to the deLaski Performing Arts Building. Lunch will be available for purchase next door in the Johnson Center.
