Tuba/Euphonium Day 2021

 

The Dewberry School of Music is pleased to offer Tuba/Euphonium Day in-person this year! We invite the tuba and euphonium community to campus on Saturday, November 13th from 9:00am – 1:00 PM. Tuba-Euphonium Day highlights include: A clinic and presentation by world-renowned educator Dr. Brian Bowman, a concert by the GMU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, and a special opportunity for the first 30 registrants to perform a world premiere by Wycliffe Gordon, jazz entrepreneur! 

BRING YOUR HORN TO PLAY! The event is FREE but space is limited so register early. Instrument masks are required and COVID safety protocols will be in place. Please view Mason’s COVID safety plan for visitors here.

 

The day’s itinerary is as follows:

8:30 – Registration opens
9:00 – “Warm-up with a Twist” with Mason Faculty Dr. Michael Nickens and Dr. David Porter
9:35 – break
9:45 – Euphonium Masterclass with Mason Faculty Dr. Mark Jenkins
10:20 – break
10:30 – Euphonium clinic/presentation with guest artist Dr. Brian Bowman
11:30 – break
11:40 – Sectionals – rehearse for Wycliffe Gordon world premiere
12:00 – break
12:10 – Performance by the GMU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble
12:40 – World premiere of Wycliffe Gordon composition
12:50 – end
