Shoshanah Drake has spent more than 25 years a music educator teaching general/vocal music, band, and orchestra, mostly for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. She worked for three years as a Consulting Teacher, where she observed and coached new and underperforming teachers to provide feedback and consistent professional development in order to help them meet the needs of their students. In the summer, Ms. Drake teaches Orff Schulwerk Level I at George Mason University.
Ms. Drake is an active member of several professional organizations including Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA) and American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA). She is a past president of the Middle Atlantic chapter of AOSA and has worked with Maryland General Music Teachers. Ms. Drake presents at local, state, and national conferences as well as workshops in various states. She has written general music curriculum for Montgomery County Public School and worked with many student teacher interns. Ms. Drake received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a concentration in Music Education and French Horn and her Masters of Music Education degree from the University of St. Thomas with a concentration in Orff Schulwerk. In 2014, Ms. Drake received the Maryland Music Educators Association Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award.
