A current doctoral candidate in conducting at George Mason University, Jeremy Cochran holds degrees in Music Education from North Dakota State University and Instrumental Conducting from the University of Minnesota Duluth. His conducting teachers have included Dr. Warren Olfert, Dr. Mark Whitlock, Mr. Mark Camphouse, Dr. Dennis Layendecker, and Mr. Anthony Maiello. Jeremy has held previous positions as a K-12 Band and Choral teacher in Campbell, Minnesota, as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and as an assistant director of the North Shore Summer Music Experience. An active composer, Jeremy wrote the text and music for Ye Matadors, the alma mater of Arizona Western College (Yuma), in 2011. In 2015, his chamber orchestra composition Insouciant was selected as a winning submission to the Minnesota Sinfonia/McKnight Foundation annual contest for Minnesota-based composers. While at George Mason, Jeremy has worked for Mason Community Arts Academy as a coordinator of its Instruments in the Attic Donation and Outreach Programs. Jeremy also continues to perform regularly as a trumpet player, both around the community and with George Mason University ensembles.
