Andrew Dougherty is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music Performance the University of Maryland, earning his Bachelor’s in Music Performance from George Mason University. Andrew recently participated in the 2015 Bar Harbor Brass Week festival in the program’s final year, and performed at the 45th anniversary of the Disneyland All-American College Band. Andrew was selected to perform with the Disney All-American College Band of 2014, in Anaheim, California under the direction of Dr. Ron McCurdy. In the summer of 2013, he attended the Savvy Musician in Action Retreat, exploring musical entrepreneurship and a focus on business in the arts. Andrew has performed at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Naturalization Ceremonies for the past two years, and with the American Festival Pops Orchestra. He continues to teach and freelance in the DC Metropolitan area.
Andrew has studied under Boston Brass Tubist Andrew Hitz, retired United States Air Force Band Tubist David Porter, and briefly with Principal Tubist of the Philadelphia Orchestra Carol Jantsch. He as worked with such artists as Wayne Bergeron, Jiggs Whigham, John Clayton, Rex Richardson and Sal Lozano. He is pursuing his career goal to be the principal tubist in a major symphony orchestra or Military Band.
