Biography
Dr. Megan Lavengood (Ph.D. City University of New York, 2017) is a music theorist specializing in popular music, timbre, the 1980s, synthesizers, and Schenkerian analysis. Her dissertation establishes a new approach to the analysis of timbre. She has presented her research nationally and abroad, at meetings for the Society of Music Theory, Gesellschaft für Musiktheorie, Music Theory Southeast, and others. She has recently taught music theory at Brooklyn College, CUNY and writing skills at Medgar Evers College, CUNY. Prof. Lavengood is also an active performer, and sings soprano in two choruses dedicated to Renaissance sacred polyphony.
