Part-Time Organist

St. Francis Episcopal Church

Great Falls, Virginia

 

The Parish of St. Francis Episcopal Church, Great Falls, Virginia seeks a part-time organist to begin service on July 1, 2017 or as soon thereafter as possible. Reporting to the the Director of Music, the appointee will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Providing organ accompaniment, which includes, hymns, service music, preludes, postludes, accompaniment of anthems and other covering music for the principal liturgies of the Parish.  These liturgies include but are not limited to the principal Sunday morning liturgy (10:00 am) throughout the year, Christmas, Holy Week and other special liturgies as required by the Music Director or Rector of the Parish. The organist will have first right of refusal for weddings and funerals.
  • Providing organ accompaniment for the St. Francis Choir at the Sunday and special liturgies.
  • Assisting the Music Director at the weekly choir rehearsal held during the program year (September-May) on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9 pm and at the Sunday, 9:15 am choir warm before the liturgy.

Education: A candidate with a music degree and experience with the Episcopal liturgy is preferred.

Organ: 2 manuel, full pedal, 13 rank Randall Dyer Pipe Organ updated in 2004

Compensation for the Part-Time Organist will be based on Diocesan guidelines.
