Biography

Olivia Jihyun Choi is a first-year of DMA student who is majoring in Orchestral Conducting. Currently, she serves as an assistant conductor and a full-time graduate teaching assistant under Dr. Han at George Mason University, VA. She graduated with her Bachelor's majoring in violin performance at Kyung Pook National University in South Korea. Following her time in Korea, Olivia Jihyun came to the State to start her Master's program at Temple University, PA. She earned a Master's of Music for the violin performance as well as string pedagogy also, finished professional studies for the graduate certificate program in violin performance at Temple University. With her professor's recommendation, she started to study in conducting in 2019 and completed her second master's degree at West Chester University, PA majoring in orchestral conducting under Maestro Joseph Caminiti. She earned a graduate assistantship and served as the assistant conductor as well as concertmaster for the West Chester Chamber Orchestra.
