St. John’s – Georgetown is an historic parish with strong ties to our community and a rich musical history. We are an inclusive and welcoming parish. As noted on our webpage, our hope is to be Jesus Christ in the community – through engagement, direct contact, and personal relationships.
The Organist/Choirmaster position is part-time, salaried with benefits, and under the direct supervision of the Rector. The expected time commitment will average 24 hours per week. (S)he will oversee a music program consisting of a parish choir comprised of eight paid section leaders and an equal or greater number of skilled volunteers. The congregation also sings enthusiastically in our acoustically live nave. We will resume inside Sunday services beginning June 6th, with a weekly Sunday service at 10:00am. Other services may include a Lessons and Carols service, Christmas and Easter services, Good Friday service, an Evensong service, and Lenten Compline services.
The Director will oversee the maintenance and care for the instruments of the parish that include a three-manual, 39 rank, 2012 Casavant Frères pipe organ and two grand pianos. Additionally, the Organist/Choirmaster will manage the Georgetown Concert Series consisting of 4-5 events per year.
