Performance Opportunities:

Symphony Orchestra
Directed by: Prof. Anthony Maiello

The University Symphony Orchestra is comprised of outstanding string, wind, and percussion players from throughout the university. The orchestra maintains an active recording and performance schedule including the traditional Holiday Concert, the annual Pops Concert in conjunction with The Medical Society of Northern Virginia Foundation, and the Music Benefit Concert every spring featuring winners of the school wide Concerto Competition. In addition to performing significant works from the standard orchestral repertoire the ensemble has commissioned various new works for orchestra by well know composers. Guest artists and conductors of world renown appear regularly with the orchestra. Among these artists are Leonard Slatkin, Doc Severinsen, Allen Vizzutti, Leon Bates, Misha Dicter, Eugenia Zuckerman, William Warfield, Alessandra Marc, and Eugene Fodor.
