Performance Opportunities

Performance opportunities abound at George Mason University. Students and faculty present more than 100 concerts, recitals, master classes, workshops, and seminars each year. Student ensembles include Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, Symphonic Chorus, Chamber Singers, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Opera Theater, and numerous Chamber Ensembles.

Performances are presented in the prominent 2,000-seat Center for the Arts Concert Hall and the intimate 500-seat Harris Theatre. Student and faculty performances also take place in such venues as the National Cathedral, the Smithsonian Institution, Strathmore Music Center, the Kennedy Center and the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. In addition, the School of Music hosts exciting national events including the National Trumpet Competition, the Saxophone Symposium, and one of the nation’s largest Orff Schulwerk Certification Programs for music educators.

George Mason University offers three main areas of performance opportunities. Click on the links below for more information regarding each discipline:
