The Mason Symphony Orchestra

Wednesday, October 16 at 8 p.m.

Center for the Arts Concert Hall

Buy tickets!

Dr. Dennis Layendecker and the Mason Symphony Orchestra have a wonderful program in store for their first performance of the semester!

This concert features gems of the Classical and Romantic periods that have drawn audiences for centuries. Mozart's Overture to Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Haydn's "Clock" Symphony are light and entertaining. The MSO is excited to have graduate assistant conductor Chad Steffey make his Mason debut with the Mozart overture! They'll close the program with Tchaikovsky's beloved Violin Concerto in D Major. It will provide contrast to the earlier works with its lush melodies and a virtuosic violin solo performed by School of Music faculty member, Dr. Elizabeth Adams

As always, the MSO is happy to share with you a program that is both sophisticated and accessible!

The Mason Wind Symphony with the
Fairfax Wind Symphony
Fall Concert

Tuesday, October 22 at 8 p.m.

Center for the Arts Concert Hall

Buy tickets!

Each year Professor Mark Camphouse and the Mason Wind Symphony invite the Fairfax Wind Symphony to share a concert celebrating musical collaboration between George Mason University and our outstanding surrounding musical community. The Fairfax Wind Symphony, directed by Stan Schoonover, provides the region's instrumental music educators an outlet to perform together in an ensemble. This performance has added significance for the large number of these music educators who are Mason School of Music alumni.

The audience is sure to enjoy the musical selections, which range from the lighthearted Offenbach overture La belle Hélène to a new work written by composer Chen Dan for the Military Band of the People's Liberation Army of China.

We hope you'll join us for one of our favorite annual concerts!
