On May 6th you can make your silence golden by bidding on these items!

The auction – to be held in Mason Hall -- will be open for one hour at the end of the Young Masters performance in the Concert Hall (approx 8:30 pm).

Fine Wine & Friends

An exclusive tasting of some of the world’s finest wines aged to maturity and ready to offer aromas and flavors that only careful cellaring can achieve. The event will be led by wine expert Kathleen Shultz at her Reston home at a mutually agreeable date in June or July. Package includes appropriate foods and designated drivers courtesy of Friends of Music. A truly unique evening for you and your friends.

Wines being offered include:  Red and White wines from Kistler Vineyards, Red and White wines from Martinelli Winery, Red and White wines from Rochioli Vineyards and Winery and Red 1982 Bordeaux, such as Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou, St. Julien, and Ch. Cos d'Estournel, St. Estephe.

This room sized (10’ x 13.3’) wool and silk Nain rug hails from the renowned weaving center of Nain, Iran. The rug, circa 1995 has a light ivory background with a large floral center medallion. Each corner boasts an intricate vase motif. Two floral bands, one blue, one pinkish frame the vine border. Must be seen!

A masterpiece in blue, beige and ivory, this 8’ x9.8’ wool and silk rug features an allover floral and vine design. The border includes brown and maroon accents. Perfect for any room in the house.  PLUS a First Edition of The Practical Book of Oriental Rugs. Published in1911, this invaluable volume illuminates the fascinating history of carpet weaving in Persia, Turkey, the Caucasian regions, Turkoman and Beluchastan and China. Classifications of silks, knots and felts, along with techniques and rug care are also covered. Color photos and maps a plus.
