Jazz Advocacy

The annual “JAZZ 4 JUSTICE” concert joins the Fairfax Law Foundation (the charitable arm of the Bar) with the George Mason University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Professor Jim Carroll, to raise funds for music scholarships and support local attorney’s vital pro bono work.

Fall 2013, the George Mason Jazz Ensemble teamed up with the Prince William Bar Foundation for their first "Jazz 4 Justice" concert!

Jazz 4 Justice
2011 Highlights

The big bands are workshop style bands combining classroom and ensemble. All of the members not just the “jazz chairs” are encouraged and given the opportunity to create with the philosophy the big band is a context for improvisation. In October 2010, Voice of America broadcast a news story, "US University Jazz Concert Benefits Student Musicians, Local Community" about the "J4J" project, its origins and the impact it has had on Mason musicians, the local community, the individuals involved in producing it, and the beneficiaries of its proceeds.
