Biography

In 2022, Megan Slay is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at George Mason University as a Dr. Linda A. Monson Scholar. She has taught Keyboard Skills I and II and this fall 2022, will teach Music Appreciation.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019 where she studied with Ruta Smedina-Starke. She was a Sigma Alpha Iota Young Artist and was awarded the Richmond Music Teachers Association Collegiate Scholarship while at VCU. 

Ms. Slay earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance from George Mason University in 2021, receiving the Graduate Academic Achievement Award.

In 2021, she gave recitals at senior homes for residents unable to travel during the COVID pandemic. She branded those recitals, “Your Musical Passport,” allowing seniors to “travel” to seven countries across Europe. Ms. Slay has been a featured performer for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, both livestream and in person. She has also been a featured soloist for Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts.

She has performed in master classes with Gary Graffman, Jerome Lowenthal, Alexander Moutouzkine, Ursula Oppens, and Simone Dinnerstein.

Ms. Slay has performed extensively in Northern Virginia, including in June 2022, performing in the Metropolitan Philharmonic Association’s Summer Chamber Music Series.
