George Mason University music students receive an education that celebrates excellence. The Washington Post described a student concert as, "...impressive-not only as a student performance, but by any standards" (Feb. 11, 2002). With over 400 students, the music department provides artistic and academic challenges in a learning environment that is energetic and creative.

The George Mason School of Music is part of the larger College of Visual and Performing Arts. Students learn from nationally and internationally recognized faculty who are active performers, conductors, composers, theoreticians, historians, and music teachers. Admission is based on acceptance to the university and audition. The music program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
