Richard Novak is quickly establishing a national reputation as a professional tenor. Mr. Novak has performed with Washington Concert Opera, Opera Carolina, Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Wichita Grand Opera, The Living Opera, San Antonio Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, Prince William Symphony, and the Monroe Symphony. Among Mr. Novak’s operatic credits are Rodolfo, Alfredo, Don José, Nemorino, Eisenstein, Lippo, and Roméo, and Tybalt. Novak was recently admitted into the Evelyn Lear and Thomas Stewart Emerging Singers Program (at the request of Evelyn Lear). In the summer of 2007, Mr. Novak was an Apprentice Artist with the Chautauqua Opera. At Chautauqua, he sang El Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen, covered the roles of Don José and Werther, and performed two concerts with the Chautauqua Symphony. Other training programs include the Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Program, the Wichita Grand Opera Resident Artist Program, and the Wesley Balk Singing/Acting Institute. In 2005 and 2006, Mr. Novak won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Tulsa District). Mr. Novak holds a BM and MM in Vocal Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University, and is nearing the completion of the Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas. Upcoming performances include Aristeus/Pluto with the In-Series (Washington, D.C.), Turridu with Annapolis Opera, Concerts with the Wagner Society of Washington, D.C., Tamino with the Prince William Symphony, Tenor Soloist (Christus-Liszt) with the New Dominion Chorale, and a DMA lecture-recital. Richard is Co-Artistic Director of Opera Workshop and Assistant Professor of Voice at George Mason University. Richard resides in Manassas, VA with his wife and two children.
